TRANSCRIPT FROM ASL VIDEO;
Hello everyone, my name is Thijs and I got a tips from my friend about a job. I want to share with you.

Looking for a job? Maybe looking for a different job?

 Two websites that will help you make this change are: Hire Abilities Hawaii (http://www.hireabilitieshawaii.org) and USA Jobs (https://www.usajobs.gov).

 The Hire Abilities Hawaii website (http://www.hireabilitieshawaii.org) is a great place to find employment resources. Here you can search for a career, job training and career assessment. There is also information to help start a business of your own and disabilities services providers. This site has links to three other helpful websites. The Hire Net Hawaii site (www.hirenethawaii.com) is an excellent place to start your search for a job. You can also create your resume, find career information and information on education and training. To get one-on-one help, go to the American Job Center on the Big Island. It is located in Hilo; the address…

Big Island Interpreters

Image
On the first Saturday of November, the Big Island Deaf Club celebrated a Thanksgivings Feast at the pavilion in Laupahoehoe Point. Also, a group of ASL interpreters instead of just individuals (as often), visited and greeted the Big Island Deaf Club's Saturday gathering. Mary Love, Helle, Michael, Carrie and Dano are a group of freelance American Sign Language/ English interpreters collaborating on the Big Island to provide services. They introduced themselves because a few of them are new to the local deaf community. For the first time in the history this Fall, the interpreters developed their own Facebook page (Big Island Interpreters) and their own website www.bigislandinterpreters.com. Their goal is to promote ASL interpreted events and provide equal access to the Deaf community of Hawaii Island.
It was a great time to learn more about them. The Thanksgiving potluck meal was also tasty. The Big Island now has a stronger ASL heritage.

Save the date on February 2, 2019

Image
