An ASL interpreter Marylove wants to share with you great news; two newcomers, Carrie and Dano will move to the Big Island in July. They want to start providing interpreting services for the deaf community on the Big Island. They will be a very good addition for us all!

Officers Learn Basic Sign Language

Police are trying to make the Big Island a deaf friendly island for residents and visitors. Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB) brought contact between the deaf community and the police during the presentation about effective communication in an emergency on December 2016. Now, two years later, the police have not forgotten the deaf community. They are now learning American Sign Language.
