Summary of the Big Island Deaf Club meeting on February 3rd 2018

On February 3rd, a lot of people attended an important meeting at Mike's home. Linda S. will stay as president for 2018-2019 but also Ron M. will stay as vice president for 2018-2019. Thijs will stay as a publisher. Pam Bond and David Bond will leave this Club because of moving back to the Mainland in March. After voting for a secretary and a treasurer, Linda E. will take the task as secretary from Pam Bond and Michael M the task as treasurer from David Bond. Also, we discussed what we will be doing in the new year 2018. Most voters preferred the balance of meeting dates for locations in the East and West of Hawaii's Island.

Deaf Cruise Days 2018

Kentucky Deaf Cruise will organize the  Deaf Hawaii Cruise 2018  for this November. One of the stops on the cruise will be the Big Island, with stops in: Hilo on Tuesday, November 27th from 8 am to 6 pm and Kailua Kona on Wednesday, November 28th from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Heart Cruises' Deaf Vacations will organize the  Deaf Group Hawaii Cruise 2018  for this December. One of the stops on the cruise will be the Big Island, with stops in: Hilo on Tuesday, December 4th from 8 am to 6 pm and Kailua Kona on Wednesday, December 5th from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Big Island Deaf Club Since 2015

In October 2015, deaf pastor, Rodney Renusch established a local deaf association; Big Island Association Deaf (BIAD). The two goals of the BIAD are breaking the barriers and showing our voice to the Big Island community. BIAD is not only strong in Waimea, but for the whole island. Unfortunately, Rodney Renusch left  the Big Island in October 2016 and moved back to the Mainland. Linda S accepted the presidency from him. Since December 2016, the local Newspaper mentioned the deaf club, BIAD, for the first time because of its support for the deaf children at the annual Deaf Santa event in December. The members of BIAD voted in Linda S as a official president in the beginning of 2017. Since April 8th 2017, the name of the community has changed. The new name is Big Island Deaf Club ! Hannah and Ron stepped down as officers in June 2017. At the same time, Pam took her volunteer job as secretary and David also took the work of treasurer from Ron. Unfortunately, Pam and David will move b
