In memory of James "Jim" Souza

Some of you already know Jim passed on September 10. For Jim Souza's Celebration of Life, a lot of people from the Big Island, Maui, Oahu and Kauai attended the Memorial Service at Kahiu Town Hall on October 22nd in Waimea. He worked hard for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community on the Big Island in the last decades. Judy Martin, long time companion of Jim, got Certificate of Appreciation from State of Hawaii Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Certificates of Appreciation from our Mayor's Committee, DD Council from the State of Hawaii and letters from the Mayor's Committee for Jim. Our condolences to Jim's family!

Come Support Deaf triathlete, Vlad Schmidt on October 8 2016

The Ironman World Championship is a triathlon held annually since 1978 to swim the distance of 2.4 miles (3.86 km), a 112 miles (180.3 km) cycling and 26 miles 385 yards (42,2 km) (marathon distance) running. The contest serves as a world championship for this triathlon distance. Through games of the Ironman circuit can qualify for the match. There are more than 2,000 athletes. One of them is deaf. His name is Vlad Schmidt from Seattle, Washington. He is a great inspiration for the deaf youth on the Big Island. Come show your support for #teamVLAD
