Hollywood Cinema: We have captioning

History has been made. The first movie theater on the Big Island of Hawaii has closed captions. In August this year the Hollywood Cinema in the Prince Kuhio Plaza mall changed its movie system to digital. Last week the technician finally got the bugs out of the installation and the result, the CaptiView closed captioning system. A text display sits in your cup holder. Sorry, you'll have to hold on to your Pepsi or borrow your neighbor's cup holder for your drink.

The wireless CaptiView system works in all the theaters so all of the movies are captioned.

Deaf Cruise Ship Days 2023 and 2024 (!)

Deaf Land & Sea Travel will organize the  Hawaii 2023  (sold out!) for July 2023. One of the stops on the cruise will be the Big Island, with stops in: Hilo on Tuesday, July 4th  8 am - 6 pm Kona on Wednesday, July 5th 7 am - 530 pm  Deaf Vacations Heart Cruises will organize the  Deaf Group Cruise 2023  for this December (sold out!). One of the stops on the cruise will be the Big Island, with stops in: Kona on Sunday, December 3th from 9 am to 6 pm  Hilo on Monday, December 4th from 8 am to 5 pm. Passages Deaf Travel will organize the Hawaii Cruise 2024  for April 2024. One of the stops on the cruise will be the Big Island, with stops in: Hilo on Sunday, April 28th from 7 am to 5 pm  Kona on Monday, April 29th from 8 am to Tuesday, April 30 at 6 pm.
